Scherzo and Postlude (2018) - for string quartet

This short work for String Quartet is modeled after unusual periodicities and repetitions that build upon a quick one-note ostinato. The Scherzo section plays with musical momentum through changes of pace, playing technique, and articulation. A feeling of "disrupted momentum" permeates through the piece's structure and should be at the forefront of the work. The forward-moving Scherzo culminates in a delicate Postlude, offering a contrast to the aggressive motion previously stated.
